So, here it is. My first make up blog.
In this make up tutorial, I will be showing you how to create a purple glittery smokey eye look which is perfect for a night out. I won't really be using any expensive products, only my Urban Decay Naked Palette and Lancomé Doll Eyes mascara. But you don't need to use these products, any eye shadow palette and mascara will do! Everything else, I bought in a pharmacy or got as a gift. The brushes I will be using are from the 24 piece MAC brush set, which was bought off eBay and I'm pretty sure it's fake (does the job though!).
So, here we go!
Remember: You don't need to use the same products as me. I'm just going through what I used! :)
Firstly, I used a moisturiser to moisturise my face after I washed it thoroughly. Make sure to moisturise your face on a daily basis as it will help promote hydration, skin cell regeneration, healing and prevent damaging effects from external forces and weather conditions that lead to premature wrinkles, fine lines, and in extreme cases, skin cancer.
I then applied Rimmel's Wake Me Up foundation in the shade "True Ivory" to my face using a foundation brush. When applying foundation by using a foundation brush, I find it very hard to blend it in without getting some brush strokes left on your face. If this happens, I always tend to just use my fingers to smooth it out and give it a matte finish.
This is a step that is not necessary in creating this look. I have the biggest obsession with eyebrows (I blame my mother), so whenever I am doing my make up, they just have to be perfect. I had already got my eyebrows tinted and waxed a few days ago, but felt they needed to be a little bolder so shaded them with a brown eye shadow, using an angular brush.
Now, onto the eyes!
As a base, I used the colour Virgin from the Urban Decay Naked Palette and applied it all over my eye lid, and also to my brow bone. Applying a white eye shadow to your brow bone highlights it, and applying a white eye shadow to the inner corner of your eye brightens and opens up your eyes, so I highly recommend this step! After this, apply the colour Sidecar to your eyelid to a tiny bit above the crease. This colour is a shimmery lilac-y colour and it's absolutely beautiful.
The next palette I used was a gift from my friend, Danielle, one Christmas. She always knows what to get me! There's not a name on the palette so I can't really tell you what it's called, but the colours in it are so lovely and vibrant! I used a shimmery midnight purple (click link) and applied it half way in from the outer corner of my eye and blended it upwards into my crease. If your colour isn't vibrant enough, keep applying more and more until you are satisfied with your midnight purple.
Using the same palette, I used a midnight navy/blue and applied it to the very outer corners of my eyelid, creating a wing shape. The purple from the previous step comes through to give the shimmery effect!
Using a small eye shadow brush, line your lower lash line with the midnight purple colour. Begin this line at the starting point of your lower lash line and continue it on until your lash line has stopped. When you've completed this, apply the midnight navy/blue to the same place but stopping halfway. Again, begin this at the starting point of your lower lash line.
Now onto my favourite part of all, the eyeliner! The eyeliner I used to line my top lash line was Maybelline's Eye Studio Lasting Dramatic Gel Liner. I absolutely love this gel liner! It costs about €10 and last months.
Apply the gel liner to your top lash line and wing it out to where the wing of the eye shadow ends. I'm not going to tell you how to apply the eye liner, because I'm hopeless at it! I also lined my water line with a Kohl pencil, only half way in from my outer corner.
I don't really wear fake eyelashes because I've got naturally long eyelashes, but I do like to have a good mascara that makes them look even longer. If you're not going to use fake eyelashes for this look, I recommend that you use tonnes of mascara to make your lashes look amazing!
Well, that's your eyes done. Now to finish the look!
Note: If you've got fall out from your eye shadow, wipe it away using a make up wide and reapply some foundation to where you've removed it.
Using Rimmel's Silky Loose Face Powder, apply this all over your face to set your foundation. I've only started using this powder recently, as I'd usually go with a pressed powder, but it's really, really good!
If you want a subtle bronzed glow, apply some bronzer all over your face. Not too much because you don't exactly want to be looking like an orange! I've been using Bourjois's Delice de Poudre for years and it's great and not too heavy on your skin.
This is another step you don't have to do to create this look, but I love it. If you want to make your face to appear a bit skinnier, contour your cheeks. There's not really much to it, just suck in your cheeks as much as you can and by using a contouring/angular blush brush, apply a darker bronzer by sweeping right under your cheek bones. This will slim your face!
Apply a pink shade lipstick to your lips and ta da, you're done!
